BOHS

BOHS

BOHS is one of the biggest occupational hygiene societies in Europe, and the only professional society representing qualified occupational hygienists in the UK. The Society as a whole offers membership to anyone with an interest in a healthy work environment. If you’re not yet a member why not consider joining? Check out the benefits and join online via the Membership section.

The Faculty of Occupational Hygiene within BOHS develops and maintains the professional standards of occupational hygienists, and membership of the BOHS Faculty is restricted to professionally qualified hygienists. The Faculty is also the only UK examining board for professional, postgraduate qualifications in occupational hygiene. The Education section is full of information about routes into occupational hygiene, or if you want specific details about qualifications, go straight to theExaminations section.

Proficiency Modules

P601/P602 LEV qualifications flyers

The most recent Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) guidance from the HSE, HSG258, refers to both of our LEV qualifications – ‘P601 Initial Appraisal and Thorough Examination and Testing of Local Exhaust Systems’ and ‘P602 Basic Design Principles of Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems’.

P601 is useful for any technician who actually tests ventilation systems within industry and in public sector buildings, and P602 is about basic design, and is therefore relevant for company engineers and managers who design their own systems. The syllabus for each course can be downloaded here:
